The Book
Paris is the City of Love and Venice, the City of Sighs, while Florence is the City of Desires. Florence is a mix of Roman, Gothic, and Byzantine influences that rose to glory in the Renaissance when the Medici family transformed it into a hub of worldwide trade and finance. Within a handful of centuries, the merchants and bourgeoisie had given way to an aristocracy that attracted Michelangelo, Dante, Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael, Machiavelli, and countless other great names. Florence is one big museum that starts with the sumptuous Galleria degli Uffizi and Palazzo Vecchio. It takes a great pen to capture this city on paper and this book is also a book of pictures worth at least 1,000 words apiece. It is a standing invitation to sit back and experience a continuing dream.
